Sara Zakaria, 18, is an empathetic and compassionate senior attending UMass-Boston in the fall. She has worked as both head of sports and the print editor in chief of her school’s paper, The Malden Blue and Gold. Growing up in a family of Moroccan immigrants, Sara has a deep appreciation for journalism and the Freedom of the Press. Black Americans Suffering from Two Pandemics

The killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer and the disproportionately high death rates among Black Americans from COVID-19 have left many in the Black community grieving, angry and asking hard questions.
